"Smartflex" is the name given by parent company NUPI to a complete system for the transfer of automotive fuels and hazardous fluids. A system already used and approved by major international petroleum companies, in response to whose needs it has been conceived, developed, realized and successfully launched onto the market by NUPI and NUPI alone. Flexible in more ways than one

NUPI ID(Industrial Division) manufactures all the pipes and the vast range of fitting that comprise the hardware of the Smartflex system (including: single-wall lined pipes for both products lines and vent/vapor lines; double-wall lined pipes for more demanding containment and monitoring requirements; electro-weldable fittings for safe, corrosion-proof jointings; spigot fittings; mechanical fittings; entry boots for positive sealing of sumps; leak monitoring system; tank sumps and dispenser sumps in HDPE). All products are available in various dimensions and configurations making the system adaptable to all kinds of installation.

Cutting-edge technology that aids cost-cutting

The key substance employed in the production of Smartflex pipes is high-density polyethylene (HDPE) which, apart from its working benefits to the user, is a more cost-effective solution than more traditional materials. All Smartflex piping consists of a composite-wall lined product which, by combining the excellent mechanical properties of HDPE with the low permeability and high resistance to hydro-carbons of a new class of polimers, creates a level of hydro-carbon compatibility unobtainable by other fuel pipes on the market.

First in its field

The internal lining of Smartflex's single-wall lined pipes is color coded either green or yellow: the former identifies piping designed for product lines, i.e. Suction and/or pressure lines, filling lines and all those which convey liquid fuel; the latter identifies piping designed for vapor recovery lines, vent lines and all those which do not constantly convey liquid fuel. The film on the internal surface of both pipes protects them from vapor-induced effects such as swelling and chemical de-rating. In addition the green one acts as a real barrier and reduces permeability. For greater ease of identification the color coding of the internal lining is repeated on lines on the external surface of the pipes. The internal lining of Smartflex piping guarantees not only positive identification and good chemical resistance but also excellent resistance to wear and high resilience. The combination of these factors creates exceptional long-term resistance to pressure.
