NUPI SpA has been a recognized global leader for the last 35 years in the development and production of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) thermoplastic piping systems for plumbing and natural gas applications. In 1995, following the completion of an extensive Research & Development program, NUPI started a new industrial division with the purpose of manufacturing polymeric piping systems specifically dedicated to petroleum, chemical, and petrochemical applications and markets.

Since its inception, NUPI Industrial Division (NUPI ID), has consistently relied upon its own R&D expertise to develop a range of dedicated pipe systems. Known as Oiltech, this piping system employs proprietary materials and processes.

Due to the petroleum product handling capabilities of Oiltech, this particular pipe system has been expanded to include a separate dedicated pipe system known as SMARTFLEX. SMARTFLEX has been specifically designed for service station applications and the pipe system's (primary and secondary) are UL & ULc, EN and IP listed for conveying various blends/ grades of gasoline, alcohol, alcohol/gasoline mixtures, including ethanol, methanol as well as oxygenates underground. SMARTFLEX pipe and fittings easily provide a containment system that is pressure testable and can be continuously monitored.

In 2001 NUPI ID incorporated NUPI Americas, Inc., located in Houston, Texas. NUPI Americas, Inc. is responsible for sales and marketing activities for the Americas (with the exception of the Mercosur countries) petroleum production and petroleum marketing markets. Today, NUPI Americas has expanded the use of the multiplayer technologies also to the upstream market developing a specific product for flow line applications: Oiltech/Y100.

NUPI ID's most recent expansion project was launched in 2005, with the incorporation of NUPI Brasil, located in Barueri, Brasil. NUPI Brasil is responsible for sales and marketing activities for the Mercosur petroleum production and petroleum marketing markets.

Aiming at enhancing its presence in the industrial and petroleum markets, NUPI ID enters the Third Millennium with a number of new, high quality projects soon to move from the development phase into the manufacturing phase. Since quality does not happen, but generates from adaptability, innovation, expertise and consistency, NUPI ID continues to develop high quality polymeric systems based on field-tested experiences, designed to fit the market it serves and manufactured to meet the most demanding design specifications. NUPI is certified as per the ISO9000 standard since 1992 and ISO14000 since 2005, and also assumes an active role in international standardization (Italian representative at various ISO and CEN committees).

NUPI ID's corporate offices are located in Imola, Italy and include 2 -pipe extrusion facilities, 2 - fitting injection-molding facilities, customer service/support, and sales & marketing offices. Other locations of NUPI ID include NUPI Americas, Inc., NUPI Brasil with sales and marketing offices located in Brisbane, Australia and in Shanghai, China.
